The Snake Valley Pub Free Camp is set beside the (Royal Hotel) pub in the small country town of Snake Valley and is a lovely little stopover for the drive between Adelaide and Melbourne. The 150 year old pub that offers a lot of charm and character, is only 20 min from Ballarat and 90 min from Melbourne and the Grampians.

The campsite is a grassed area set beside the pub with unpowered caravan & camper-van sites available. The free camp is pet friendly but as neither the camping area nor the Pub is fenced off from the road, it is best to keep your dogs leashed at all times. There is an outside toilet with 24 hr lit access and the inside bathroom with a toilet and hot showers can be used for a small fee. There is no time limit on your length of stay at the campsite so having a meal or two at the hotel and supporting the local shops is a great way to show thanks to this small community.

Whether you are camping in the free camp or passing through on your travels, stop in and grab yourself a delicious home cooked pub meal. Sit and chat with the friendly locals in the air conditioned hotel, or have a nice cold drink in the lovely beer garden or a private garden (purchased from the Pub) and in winter enjoy the comforts of an open fire. Snake Valley is a typical small country town with country hospitality who love to make everyone feel welcome. Lunch is from 12pm – 2pm (closed for lunch Mondays) and Dinners from 6pm – 8pm.

Snake Valley Pub also has accommodation in the pub so this is a great place to catch up with family and friends who may not have a caravan. Rooms are available from $70 per night.

The pub has a general store with fuel, groceries, coffee n cake & Australia Post,

A lovely town, great people. The Pub folks are super. I can not say enough good about them. Hospitable. Helpful. It all fits. Reminds me of American Southern Hospitality.
