Great overnight stop.
Chatsworth Park is a free rest area with large space offering 72-hour stay. The pet-friendly site is accessible to motorhomes, caravans, camper trailers, and big rigs.
HOW TO GET THERE
Chatsworth Rest Area is 6.5km North of Gympie, or 6.3km South of the Bruce Highway/Wide Bay Highway junction, and is just off the Bruce highway via Vantage Road.
SITE ACCESS
Turn into Vantage Road then immediately left into the rest area. There is room to park along the side here and also an area to your right with six \”reverse in\” bays for caravans. Do not proceed past this if there is much ahead as turning space is limited at the end. This is a very popular site and gets very busy by early afternoon.
RULES
There is a limit of 72 hours at this location.
Rest areas are there for you to rest, making your trip safer and more enjoyable.
Rest areas are not long-term camping sites. However, motorists are able to take extended rest breaks at some sites. Rules on the length of stay at rest areas vary between controlling authorities.
Caravans and motorhomes are not considered heavy vehicles, and should not stop at heavy vehicle locations.
Please note: Rest areas are not designed to be camping grounds or caravan parks. Using rest areas for multiple overnight stays as part of a planned itinerary is not in keeping with their intended purpose. Those needing facilities for an extended stay are encouraged to look for camping areas or caravan parks in towns along the way.

A great overnight rest area, sadly spoilt by people overstaying,
the sign says 20 hours, but ive seen people stay here weeks, the sign also say’s no fires but you know the silly old grey nomads, they cant read, washing hanging everywhere, caravans unhitched while people explore the area, and as i said, stay for weeks, this is an overnight rest area not a freecamp for tight arsed grey nomads
bit jealous are we Barry
