Bajool Hotel Campground (FC)

This free campground on the Bruce Highway is perfect for a short stopover or to use as a base to explore the sights in Rocky and its surrounds. The pub offers legendary counter meals for lunch and dinner, the beer is ice cold and the owners, Helen and Garry, and their staff go out of their way to make sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable.

The free camping sites beside the pub or across the road are fairly simple, with the use of the facilities at the pub being the only amenities. Both the areas are level, with room to maneuver even the big rigs. Some potable water may be available, but best to carry it with you if possible. It is suggested that the limited tank water available be boiled before drinking. A table and chairs can be borrowed from the pub on request. Well-behaved pets are allowed, with the usual common sense and courtesy rules applying.

There is also comfortable and clean motel-style accommodation available at the hotel for those just looking for a bed for the night while travelling through.

The nationally important Fitzroy River Delta Wetland area, containing specimens of numerous endangered species of plants and animals, lies just to the east of the town.

HOW TO GET THERE
Bajool and the pub are approximately 35km south of Rockhampton and 75km north of Gladstone on the eastern side of Bruce highway. Signage on road.

SITE ACCESS
Head straight to the hotel to check-in. There is ample truck/bus/motorhome parking out front. Camping Areas to the left of the Hotel or opposite (open grassy)

FEES & BOOKINGS
There is no fee to stay at this site, however, the pub would appreciate your patronage.

THINGS TO DO
Dreamtime Cultural Centre is situated on the northern outskirts of Rockhampton. A waterfall provides a stunning backdrop for any function, whilst the gardens are part of an interpretive walk available to visitors.

Rockhampton’s numerous museums and historic buildings display the rich history of the region and the Reef.
