The most terrible experience!!
We booked over the phone a couple of hours before arriving; we only wanted to stay overnight as we travelled back home from Airlie Beach for holidays.
Upon arrival at 5.30 pm, we booked ourselves in, paid the camping fee ($40 per family, 2 families), then they showed us our camping spot, which was to our surprise at the side of the road with no grass whatsoever, with just road base and soil dust (photos attached). They put both families on this spot. We went back to the farm owners and asked for a different spot because it is impossible to put the tent pegs down to the road base. Plus the wind was quite strong and was lifting the dust from the road. We explained we have a mesh tent and we would get all the dust inside the tent. This was not acceptable, especially with little kids.
They said it is impossible to give us a different spot with grass because the grass dies immediately if you put a tent on, even for one night (some sensitive grass must they have??). The grassy spots were ONLY for campervans. We then asked for a refund, (as we couldn’t sleep on the road) which they refused with an excuse they would have booked someone else in. They wouldn’t even give us half the money back, even though we only arrived 15 min before. We tried to negotiate any other spot (it’s their farm, they could put us anywhere else if they wanted), but the farm owner just said: “This is your spot, take it or leave it!” I said I would leave an honest review of our experience, and the owner even threatened me that I could be prosecuted!! So we left very upset and had to find a different camp in the dark.
By our experience, the farm owners only care about collecting money, and do not care about their customers and are very rude. Additionally, what bothered us is that they ONLY operate with cash, in these COVID times. Good luck with staying there.
