Hoop pine rainforest, open eucalypt forest, open woodland with a heath understorey, and exotic pine plantations grow in Wongi. The National Bicentennial Trail passes through the forest. The camping area is alongside one of the string of waterholes here.

HOW TO GET THERE
Wongi is 25km north-west of Maryborough. Head 12.5km towards Childers on the Bruce Highway then turn left at the signpost (the last reliable mobile phone reception is at this turnoff). Drive 10km into the picnic and camping areas along a gravel road.

SITE ACCESS
Follow Warrah Road until you reach the signposted entry to the day-use and camping area.

FEES & BOOKINGS
You must obtain a camping permit and pay your camping fees before camping in a park or forest. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite and these can only be obtained online..
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.15 per person per night or $24.60 per family group per night.
$3.40 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free. Read more about CAMPING COSTS & BOOKINGS

FACILITIES
Toilets and non potable water at the campground and picnic tables at various locations along the waterholes.

RULES.
Strictly NO FIRES and NO FISHING in Wongi Waterholes
Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails.
Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
