Tucked away in the southeastern corner of New South Wales, between Eden and the Victorian border, Wonboyn Cabins and Caravan Park is surrounded by pristine forests and close to peaceful waterways, great fishing, an abundance of bird and wildlife, making it ideal for a tranquil getaway.

Family-owned and operated since late 2018, the park has a range of accommodation options. For caravanners and campers, there are powered campsites, with somewhere suitable for tents and RVs of all sizes. Campsites offer morning or afternoon shade and are set on a gentle slope that is terraced so that the sites are level. Sites for large RVs and sites with TV connections are limited so if you need these it’s best to book ahead.

The park’s clean and spacious amenities block is located on the top terrace and other facilities include a pool, BBQs, a covered BBQ area with chairs and tables, a laundry with coin-operated washing machines and dryers, and clotheslines. A washing-up area is provided for campers, however, at this point in time, there is no camp kitchen. If you’d like a campfire, there are drums available for guests to borrow. An ‘essentials’ general store, coffee shop, and food van will also be operating soon.

On-site accommodation needs are taken care of with a range of cabins, from single-bedroom budget units to a 2-bedroom cottage known as The Shack that sleeps up to seven people. Each cabin is different to suit a variety of guests and their needs, whether you’re staying with family or a group of mates. Cabin facilities include kitchen, BBQ, ensuite or toilet, TV/DVD player, and some bedding. Guests are encouraged to supply linen (sheets & towels), however, linen can be provided if this is not possible. Pets are not allowed during Easter & Christmas breaks. Depending on the breed, some dogs are even allowed in cabins with prior approval.

Wonboyn Lake is only about 300m away, and the park has kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and boats for hire. For guests with their own boats, mooring sites can also be hired.

With Wonboyn Cabins and Caravan Park being surrounded by forest, guests can expect to see some of the local wildlife during their stay. Residents include kangaroos, wallabies, possums and a variety of bird species including kookaburras, rainbow lorikeets, king parrots, and lyrebirds.

Opposite the park is a post office which is open from 4pm – 6pm and if you need any supplies during your stay, the Kiah General Store is just 16 km north of the park on the Highway. They offer basic groceries, dine-in, and takeaway food, fuel, auto parts, bait, and fishing tackle, and they are also a bottle shop. For other requirements, Eden is the closest town.

HOW TO GET THERE
Wonboyn Road runs eastwards off the Princes Highway 23 km south of Eden and a similar distance northeast of the Victorian border. It is well signed from both directions. After turning off the highway, follow Wonboyn Road for 10 km to Wonboyn township. Continue following the road towards the lake and you will see Wonboyn Cabins and Caravan Park on the right.

Please Note: If you are travelling from Eden, a few kilometres before Wonboyn Road you will see signs for Wonboyn Resort at Edrom Road. Wonboyn Resort is a different place from Wonboyn Cabins and Caravan Park. Don’t turn here.

There are plenty of good fishing opportunities in the Wonboyn area too. Whether you take a boat out on the lake or fish from a beach or rocks, you don’t need to travel far from the park. Possible catches include flathead, bream, whiting, tailor, and trevally.

Nadgee Nature Reserve
Extending southwards from Wonboyn Lake, Nadgee Nature Reserve is filled with pristine wilderness and a diversity of flora and fauna. It’s an ideal place for bushwalking and birdwatching, and you may also see pygmy possums, potoroos, and dingoes. Greenslades Beach, the nearest beach to Wonboyn Cabins and Caravan Park, is great for a stroll or a picnic and may be suitable for swimming or surfing depending on conditions.
