A perfect stop-off point on the famous Oodnadatta Track by the Old Ghan Line in outback South Australia. They serve cold beer, delicious meals and have accommodation types to suit every traveller. The campgrounds have large powered and unpowered sites with plenty of shade from the trees and lots of room for a caravan, trailer, or larger RV. The tent sites are on the dirt, but if you don’t feel like setting up the tent, it is easy to book a cabin or one of the modernised en-suite Pelican Suites with air-con and a flat-screen TV.
The campground has protective shelters, which have LED lighting and fireplaces. Recent upgrades to the amenities have been undertaken and the campground it is well facilitated as indicated in the facility section below.
The iconic hotel welcomes guests and offers unique outback hospitality. The front bar is uniquely decorated with memorabilia by travellers from all over the world. It has fantastic outback pub fare and thirst-quenching drinks, William Creek is a culinary epicentre specialising in “outback steaks” and is also well known along the track for their famous “William Creek Outback Burgers”, chicken schnitzels and many other homemade delicacies. Throw in local Bush Tucker, flavoured ice cream, and personalised table service, it will leave you raving for weeks.
William Creek is reputed to be the smallest town in South Australia surrounded by the world’s largest cattle station, Anna Creek Station. It is the closest town to Lake Eyre North and is the gateway to The Simpson Desert. This area is steeped in history and has a rich cultural heritage.

Located on the Oodnadatta Track 204km from Marree or 205km from Oodnadatta.
SITE ACCESS
Along Oodnadatta Track, you’ll definitely know that you’ve reached the place as there is a big signage on it. You’ll be driving along a rough dirt road and no grass at all.

THINGS TO DO
There are some items of interest on display in Memorial Park including the remains of the Old Ghan rail line. A variety of unusual means of transport including a steam engine, a wooden wagon, and the first stage of a rocket, the remains of Stage 1 of the R3 rocket, successfully launched from the Woomera Rocket Range in October 1971.

You can take scenic flight tours by Wright’s Air and Lake Eyre Tours to Lake Eyre, the world’s largest salt lake and Australia’s largest inland lake which comprises of 400 million tonnes of salt.
Anna Creek Painted Hills is a rocky outcrop of large and small hills, which emerge suddenly out of a flat, desert landscape. The changing colours of the hills are believed to be a result of oxidisation.
