Yorke Peninsula Council has designated 19 different sites on the Peninsula as bush campgrounds. Campsites are found in secluded bush and mallee areas overlooking the ocean. Most have a stunning long white sandy beach within walking distance of your camp. Access to campgrounds is via gravel roads, accessible by conventional vehicles with care.
One of the very popular camping sites, Wauraltee Beach, provides free camp among the dunes or overlooking the beach and is BYO water and firewood. Whichever site you choose, you’ll definitely enjoy the spectacular sunset as it set over the ocean.
There is patchy mobile reception and no facilities available. This site would be best suited to conventional vehicles but some access might require a four-wheel drive. This refers to the 4WD trail in the area being a popular spot for that activity as well as for trail motorbikes to use.
Wauraltee Beach is situated on the west coast of the Yorke Peninsula, approximately 17 kilometers south of Port Victoria. It is a beautiful camp spot with amazing white sand which you might find it difficult to get a spot during warmer weather and holiday.
A permit is needed for each vehicle staying at these campgrounds. The permit is transferable between all 19 sites, allowing you to move around the Peninsula and experience spectacular coastlines and magnificent beaches.
