The location is suitable for Caravans, Camper Trailers, Camping beside my vehicle, and Tents.

The road between Thredbo and Khancoban is not recommended for vehicles towing large caravans.

Tom Groggin campground is set on the banks of the upper Murray River in the southern precinct of Kosciuszko National Park. There’s plenty of room for relaxed camping in open informal areas in a lovely valley setting with stunning mountain and riverside backdrops. It’s a great camping location if you’re doing a car tour of Kosciuszko National Park and the surrounding high country areas, as it’s easily accessible for 2WD vehicles off Alpine Way. The weather conditions are also generally milder in the valley than areas of Kosciuszko National Park at higher elevations.

The campground provides access and a base camp for horse riders, mountain bikers and bushwalkers tackling the iconic Bicentennial trail. It’s also an ideal spot for car touring to nearby sites, including Thredbo Alpine Village.

The campground and surrounding open grassland areas in the valley are home to a large population of resident eastern grey kangaroos. Emus, echidnas, brush-tailed possums, lyrebirds, kookaburras, flame robins, crimson rosellas and grey currawongs can all also be spotted regularly around the campground.

SITE ACCESS
