The Thureau Hills camp ground is located on the shores of Lake Burbury. It offers a real rugged wilderness experience. There is a 24 Hour limit imposed at this site.
Lake Burbury is an operational hydropower storage, which means that the water levels can change often.
SITE ACCESS
Travel to Queenstown via the A10. The A10 crosses the centre of Lake Burbury where access to the northern camping and launching areas are sign posted. Access to the camping area and boat ramp at the southern end of Lake Burbury is through Queenstown, travel south on the Mt. Jukes Road. All access roads are sealed.
FEES
There are no fees for camping at this site. Camp sites available on a first-come first-served basis and no bookings are required. As there is no charge for the use of this facility, we encourage you to help keep it clean, and please visit and support the nearest town or village.
FACILITIES
A ‘bush’ toilet (or chemical toilet) is provided however, no showers are provided. A boat ramp is located near this camp ground.
THINGS TO DO
This site offers excellent opportunities for finishing or boating activities.
RULES
Fires are only permitted if there are fire pots provided, unless there is a fire ban. Visit the Tasmanian Fire Service website to see the current fire restrictions.
Please remember to leave no trace and take all rubbish with you. .
