Camping without a caravan?? then this place is for you. For those that want to camp, without the tent and in luxury, Thou Walla Sunset Retreat is waiting for you. Our amazing location allows us to provide outstanding accommodation on the waters surrounding Soldiers Point in beautiful Port Stephens. It’s time to get away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday.

The accommodation on offer ranges from rustic cabins through to spa villas and luxury glamping tents all with breathtaking water views. One of our most popular accommodation types is the water view Sunset Villa, where from your private balcony you can watch amazing sunsets over the water. Our retreat is designed to provide an alternative to hotel or motel accommodation in Soldiers Point, quality accommodation in self-contained villas, many with great views of the water around Soldiers Point.

There is so much to experience, whether it’s enjoying a delicious seafood platter while watching the sunset over the bay, camping with a twist, learning to sail, going nuts on the sand dunes on a quad bike, skippering your own hire boat/kayak, or just chilling watching the world go by and enjoying the sea breezes of Port Stephens.

HOW TO GET THERE
From Nelson Bay Road coming from the West (Newcastle) turn left into Port Stephens Drive (Roundabout opposite Nelson Bay Pony Club) and after 4.6km turn left into Soldiers Point Road.  Follow to the end and keep let into Ridgeway Avenue.  The property is 80m on the right.

THINGS TO DO
Make a splash in the pool or enjoy the calm pristine waters surrounding the park. Visit the adjacent Marina with fishing and boat ramp facilities as well as an award winning restaurant. Nearby are cafes and take away conveniences.

Other things to do around Soldiers Point and the Port Stephens area are:
Horse Riding – It’s only a 5 minute drive from us to Sahara Trails. Get on board your four legged rides (either camel or horse) and try a bush or beach guided horse ride.
Dolphin Watching – They are undoubtedly one of the wonders of the ocean, and also the totem for the local Worrimi people.
Whale Watching – Operating mid May till mid November, for a close encounter with the awesome giants jump on a cruise boat, they depart twice daily from Nelson Bay Marina (about 15 minute drive).
Sand Dunes – For those who want to rev it up a little, why not try a quad bike tour on the iconic Stockton sand dunes daily.
Ferry Cruise – Cruise across beautiful Port Stephens to tranquil Tea Gardens, see dolphins on the way, then enjoy a nice lunch at the Tea Garden Hotel Motel or casual stroll along the waterfront.
Oakvale Farm & Fauna World – Get up close and personal with cuddly farm animals and the wide array of Australian wildlife.
Australian Shark & Ray Centre – Touch or play with sharks, rays, seahorses and fish in a safe environment.
Toboggan Hill Park – Tobogganing, indoor rock climbing, ice-skating, electronic games, giant maze, mini golf, plaster painting, tractor train and kiosk.
