The Longhorn Bar & Grill, formerly known as the Deepwater Inn offers a great Free Camp along the New England Highway.
The Original Inn burnt down in 2011 and has since been painstakingly restored by its new owners Andrew & Lynn who now offer Free Camping at the back of the pub, along with sensational meals.
The campground is large and open on very flat land at the back of the pub. It is best for fully self-contained vehicles, however, they do have toilet facilities at the pub. There is also power available for a small fee should you need it. Should you wish to have a night out of the van, they also offer onsite accommodation.
The original pub itself is built from local granite and has a warm cosy feel about it, especially with the central fireplace and couch were you can sit and chat with the owners who love to share a yarn with campers and travellers. There is a great area outside in the beer garden which is surrounded by a paddock with miniature ponies.
Inside, the pub has been beautifully restored and they often have live Music happening. Lynn is also a great artist with many of her works featured on the walls and they seriously prepare the best meals including Gourmet Burgers with handmade Buns and Sauces and huge pizzas full of flavour.
They also run a 24/7 café attached to the front of the pub, so you always have something to eat or can grab a great coffee if you feel the need at 3am in the morning. As long as you don’t mind Lyn coming out in her nightie.

FEES & BOOKINGS
It is free to camp at The Longhorn, but they would welcome you in the pub for a cold drink or great meal. Bookings are not required as there is plenty of room to park up. Once settled just let them know at the bar that you have arrived.
HOW TO GET THERE
The Longhorn is located directly off the New England Highway on the northern outskirts of town. It is on the left hand side if approaching from the north.
SITE ACCESS
Access to the campground is off Caldell Street which runs beside the pub. If coming from the north it is the first street on your left past the Pub. Then take the first gateway that leads into the campground located at the rear of the pub. Park up wherever you like then let them know at the bar that you have arrived. Power is available from the power box near the shed.
THINGS TO DO
The Longhorn is an experience of its own. Live music is often playing and the meals are worth experiencing.
Deepwater Township is only a short walk down the road and has some local cafes and a Foodworks store in town to stock up on groceries.
The area surrounding Deepwater is also great for bushwalking and fossicking. There are some great scenic drives in the area and some fresh water fishing opportunities in the Deepwater River. In January each year, they also hold the annual Deepwater Picnic Races.
