Free camping near Macquarie River
Terramungamine Reserve offers free 24-hour camping suitable for large caravans and motorhomes with toilet block but no showers. The site is on the Macquarie River and would make a great place as a base for kayak or fishing trips. Get here early and park under the oldest gnarliest tree you will ever see. The birdlife is fantastic, there are aboriginal rock grooves all along the bank.
HOW TO GET THERE
Terramungamine Reserve and Rock Grooves is around 11km in total North of Dubbo. From the Newell Highway turn left at Burroway road (signposted but look out for it).

The site is 3.9km along Burroway Road.

THINGS TO DO
Terramungamine Rock Grooves has an amazing 150 rock carvings created by the Tubbagah people. It is of historical value because it was used by the Wiradjuri Tribe to shape tools and spears. It was also an important meeting place for the Tubbagah people.
