Speewah camping area features open grassy area fringed by rainforest trees. The camp site is near the Speewah trailhead for the Barron Gorge National Park long-distance walking network. The camping area can be reached by conventional vehicles. It is accessible for camper trailers, campervans and small buses driven with care. It is not accessible for caravans. Speewah Road is not suitable for towing caravans.
Number of sites: three numbered sites. Can accommodate 2 cars and trailers (max 10 people).

SITE ACCESS
The camp site is 5.2 km along Stoney Creek Road from the Speewah turn-off on the Kennedy Highway.
From Cairns, travel north along the Captain Cook Highway. Follow the Kuranda signs and turn left onto the Kennedy Highway, which winds up the coastal mountain range. Continue past the Kuranda turn-off for 6.5 km and then turn left onto Speewah Road. Continue through the Speewah township and follow the signs for 5.2 km along Speewah Road. Turn left onto the winding Stoney Creek Road and then left onto the steep Smiths Track road, which leads to the regional park.
Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite.
Fees for camping permits are:
$5.75 per person per night or $23.00 per family group per night.
$3.20 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free.

FACILITIES
Drinking water, picnic tables, gas barbecues, flushing toilets and cold showers (toilets and showers are wheelchair accessible).
RULES
Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails.
Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
