Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the outskirts of Bordertown in South Australia. Set amongst the gum trees overlooking Australian native flora and fauna, it is a beautiful location to park up at if you want to experience something unique and different.
The sanctuary allows you to stay on location and also to have a hands-on experience with the wildlife. Your hosts show you what is involved with taking care of all species of Australian fauna. Visitors are able to help with bottle feeds and get to cuddle some of the animals. Tours and teaching of wildlife care are also available, however, unfortunately, due to the nature of wildlife rescue, they do not accept children under the age of 10.
On offer are powered sites for guests who have their own Fully Self Contained vehicles as there are no amenities on site. Or, there is a “Glam Van” which is a fully self-contained 24-foot caravan which includes a continental breakfast. Campfires are permitted, however, it is not suitable for pets due to the wildlife.
Safe Haven is close to Bordertown and only a stone’s throw to the central hub of town where you can walk or drive to cafes, chemist, clothes and sports shops, beauty and hair, as well as Hotels for a great local meal.

Bordertown Railway Station
A particularly impressive building indicating the importance of the town. It was completed in 1914. The railway arrived in the town in 1886.
Clayton Farm Historic Site and Agricultural Museum
Located only 3km south of Bordertown on the Naracoorte Road this is one of the most interesting historic farms in the country. It has an extraordinary collection of historic farm buildings and some outstanding and very significant historic farm machinery. There is a Vintage Field Day on the October long weekend.
