Expedition National Park has three sections. Access to Robinson Gorge section is via Taroom or Bauhinia Downs, while access to the Lonesome and Beilba sections are via Injune.
It is a 5–6 hour drive between Robinson Gorge section and Lonesome and Beilba sections. There are no roads directly connecting Robinson Gorge section with Lonesome and Beilba sections.
SITE ACCESS
Remote bush camping
Bushwalking through Expedition National Park should only be undertaken by fit, experienced bushwalkers with good navigational skills and equipment. Topographic maps, a compass and the ability to use them is essential. GPS, EPIRB (or PLB) are highly recommended. Visitors planning to walk and camp in remote sections of the park should have an emergency plan worked out with a responsible friend or family member.
Features: varying landscapes natural grasslands, brigalow and eucalypt woodlands and rugged sandstone gorges.
Location: all of Expedition National Park, except in restricted access areas.
Access: walk-in only.
Number of sites: no allocated sites. Your group should have at least 2 people. Maximum group size is 6.
Camp sites suitable for: tent camping only.
Camp site surface: dirt.
Facilities: none.
Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite.
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.55 per person per night or $26.20 per family group per night.
$3.60 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free. Read more about CAMPING COSTS & BOOKINGS.
