OVERVIEW
Tucked into a pocket of native Western Australian bushland on the banks of the Moore River, Regans Ford Holiday Park is the kind of unhurried roadside gem that turns a quick overnight stop into a stay you keep extending. I rolled in expecting a simple fuel-and-sleep halt behind the famous Windmill Roadhouse, and rolled out a couple of days later having completely recalibrated my plans. That seems to be the pattern here. Plenty of travellers tell the same story: they pulled in to break up the run north and ended up lingering by the green, shady sites with a cuppa from the little on-site café.

The park sits roughly 90 minutes north of Perth, just off the Brand Highway at Regans Ford, which makes it a natural staging post for anyone pointing the rig towards the Pinnacles, Cervantes, Jurien Bay and the wider Turquoise Coast. What sets it apart from the usual highway stopover is the setting. The Moore River runs about 750 metres away, the surrounding bush hums with birdlife at dawn, and the owners clearly pour real effort into keeping the lawns lush and the place feeling cared for.

Space is the other quiet luxury. The drive-through sites are generous enough that big rigs can stay hitched and level without any fuss, which is a genuine relief after a long day behind the wheel. The amenities lean towards the older, well-loved end of the scale, but they’re spotless, and somehow that honest simplicity adds to the charm rather than detracting from it.

For something a little different, the park has leaned into comfortable canvas living with beautifully furnished bell tents dotted among the powered grassed sites. No setting up, no packing down, just arrive and unwind. It’s glamping done sensibly, ideal for friends who love the idea of camping but aren’t quite ready to wrestle a tent at dusk.

What I appreciated most was the welcome. The hands-on owner-managers greet you like they’re genuinely pleased you stopped, point you towards the best fishing spots, and keep improving the place season after season. Add the cheap fuel and hearty feed at the windmill next door, the easy access to Moore River National Park, and a star-thick country sky once the sun drops, and you’ve got a friendly, great-value base that punches well above its roadside reputation. Regans Ford rewards the traveller who slows down.

* Confirm the park’s pet policy directly when booking if you’re travelling with animals, as conditions can apply.
* Respect quiet hours so fellow travellers and the resident birdlife get a peaceful night.
* Stick to allocated sites and keep access lanes clear for big rigs manoeuvring through.
* Site check-in is from 12pm and room/cabin check-in from 2pm; let the park know if you expect a late arrival.
* Take your rubbish to the bins provided and leave your grassed site as tidy as you found it.
* Drive at walking pace within the park, keeping an eye out for kids and wildlife.

HOW TO GET THERE
Regans Ford Holiday Park is at 10 Harris Street, Regans Ford, around 150 km (roughly 90 minutes) north of Perth and an easy stop on the way to the Pinnacles and the Turquoise Coast. From Perth, head north on the Brand Highway (State Route 60) towards Gingin and beyond. As you reach the small town of Regans Ford, look for the unmistakable Windmill Roadhouse right on the highway.

Turn off the Brand Highway at the roadhouse and into Harris Street; the holiday park sits directly behind the Windmill Roadhouse, so once you spot that towering windmill you’ve arrived. Coming from the north (Cervantes, Jurien Bay or Geraldton), simply follow the Brand Highway south and the roadhouse and park will be on your left as you enter Regans Ford.
