Self-sufficient camping near Powell Creek.
Camping is allowed near Powell Creek, 580m from Hell Hole Waterhole.
Visitors must be self-sufficient. Bring at least 7 litres of water per person per day for cooking, drinking and washing and always have extra supplies of food and fuel on hand. Pack a first-aid kit, a portable toilet, vehicle spare parts and containers for keeping rubbish secure for removal from the park when you leave.
Features: open area beside Hell Hole Waterhole, the park’s largest waterhole.

Campsites are suitable for: tent camping beside your 4WD; off-road camper trailers.

SITE ACCESS
Location: the camping area is approximately 7.5km southwest of the park entrance. Follow the signs and then the markers fixed to rock surfaces which help guide you safely across Powell Creek.
Access: the camping area can be reached by 4WD vehicles and off-road camper trailers (only). It is not accessible for caravans; buses or motorhomes.
Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park, there should be signs to the actual campgrounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. During school holidays, campsites must be booked in advance. Camping permits can only be extended online. There are online booking facilities at the Roma and Mitchell tourist information centers. The QPWS Mount Moffatt office does not have online facilities.
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.85 per person per night or $27.40 per family group per night.
$3.75 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free.
