Technically a Rest Area, this site is often used for overnight stays, and the locals welcome visitors. It is quite spacious with grassy sites either side of the entrance, there is a mixture of shaded and open sunny positions that cater for all size rigs. However, the shaded areas are under tall Gums, where caution should be used, when we were there we saw a number of fallen branches. Most of the area is level, but there are some parts that have a gentle slope that may require ramps to get you level. It is located right on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, so you may get the odd horse passing by. There is a footbridge at the end of the site which crosses the creek and leads to the nearby Lions Park, where there is a toilet block. It is also adjacent to the local swimming pool and from there only a short walk into town. Also, at the end of the footbridge is a water filling station. It is coin operated and there is a small fee of 50 cents per 150 litres. It is accessible by vehicle via Cressbrook Street. The only slight drawback to this site is that due to it being off the main highway, there was a bit of traffic noise from time to time.

SITE ACCESS
Access is via the Brisbane Valley Highway approximately 2km south of Town, the driveway is wide enough, but there is a slight dip into the area, not enough to scrape on most vehicles, but still best to take it slow. Once in, you can go to both sides of the driveway to find a spot.

FEES & BOOKINGS
There is no charge for the use of this facility, so if you are staying at this site we encourage you to help keep it clean, and please visit and support the nearest town or village.

THINGS TO DO
Toogoolawah sits right on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, where you can walk, cycle or horse ride through the Brisbane Valley. In town there is the quirky Alexandra Hall, that shows movies every Saturday night complete with canvas sling back chairs. You can visit the railway station converted to a historical museum containing local heritage and genealogy information, or drive by the town’s wooden churches. It is also home to the original Nestle Condensery Building which is currently undergoing conversion into a Regional Art Gallery. There are also great local markets held at the Railway Museum in the main street every second Saturday of each month. Toogoolawah is also well known for Skydiving, with the Ramblers Skydiving Drop Zone nearby, and also the Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield which has vintage ultralight and military aircraft on display and holds an open day each May.

Great free camp with some tree shade unlike the other in town. May be a little noisy with passing traffic
