Ongerup Caravan Park is centrally located between Perth and Esperance and between Kalgoorlie and Albany in WA’s Great Southern region. Ongerup is a small farming based community that is nestled between the Stirling Range & Fitzgerald River National Parks and the home of the Yongergnow Malleefowl Centre. Ongerup Caravan Park is the perfect spot for a relaxing stopover before continuing on your travels and the ideal base to explore the surrounding area.

The pet friendly Park offers travellers Camping and Caravan Sites as well as Onsite In-House Accommodation. Situated just off the main highway, the quiet and peaceful park with lovely views across the surrounding countryside, is easily accessed by all sized caravans and RV’s. There are two onsite vans available and a range of powered and unpowered sites suitable for tent campers, caravans, motorhomes and big rigs. They have drive through sites too if you don’t want to unhitch. The large gum trees provide shaded areas and there are plenty of spots in the sun to make use of your solar.

The amenities are clean and well maintained with all the facilities listed below. A feature of the park is the in house camp kitchen, dining and lounge room area where you will feel like you’re back at home. Situated in the house, you will enjoy the cosy fire place on those cold winter nights and relaxing in front of the TV catching up on the news or your favourite shows.

If you’re travelling without a van, or want a night or two out of the tent Ongerup Caravan Park also offer clean and comfortable in house accommodation. With rooms to suit couples and a larger room for a family of 4 or 5 if needed. In house accommodation sleeps 12 comfortably with full access to house camp kitchen, lounge, dinning, wood fire place, television, laundry facilities, hot showers, toilets and BBQ area.

There is a children’s playground less than 2 minutes walk from the park to keep the kids happy and a Co-Op shop, roadhouse, tyre service centre, post office and the Ongerup Hotel are all close by and within walking distance.

Leanne and Stephen Baker are the new owners of the Ongerup Caravan Park and look forward welcoming all Free Range Camping Members to their tranquil park and while you are staying they will strive to make you feel at home. They are also more than happy to pet sit your fur baby if you choose to explore the National Parks close by.

HOW TO GET THERE
Ongerup is 1/2 km off the main highway with plenty of signs to get you to park. Located at the corner of Walker and Lamont Streets, when you turn at Lamont Street, you will see the welcome sign right at the front. You can also see the sign from the Highway.

SITE ACCESS
Site access is easily visible and accessible. Drive in and park up or park beside the house and see the owner.

Fee is from $15/night per site (up to 2 people) for Unpowered Site, $25/night per site (up to 2 people) for Powered Site. $5/night for additional person.

THINGS TO DO
Explore Stirling Range National Park take one of the many walking tracks too Bluff Knoll and see the sites. If you love hiking and mountain climbing this is a great place to explore. Plenty of bird life to be seen on the Bluff Knoll walking tracks. Did you know it snows on Bluff Knoll ! Mt Trio bush walks is also a must do. Lets not forget the world famous Fitzgerald River National Park Bio-Diversity System. WA`S beautiful Wildflowers can be seen here plus so many types of Orchids can be found.

Bremer Bay, is a coastal town situated on the south coast is only 1.5 hr drive from the park. Albany is also a good day trip, regarded as one of the most incredibly beautiful and diverse coastlines in the world. Lake Grace is only 1.5 hrs away. Gnowangerup is 40 minutes from here with the Ned Kelly statue right beside the Gnowangerup Hotel.

Yongergnow Malleefowl Centre
This Award Winning Centre is a must see visitors to the area. It offers a unique adventure into the mallee environment and the endangered Malleefowl. Run by the community, the centre boasts a world class multi-media interpretive display, a children’s play corner, a retail shop for souvenirs, a cafe and so much more. There are guided tours through the centre and around the two aviaries that house the malleefowl.

Ongerup and Needilup District Museum
Set up to reflect the early settlers’ lifestyle with the primitive machinery they relied upon as well as household appliances and a natural display. The museum also has an Aboriginal and early settler native food and medicine display as well as a replica Malleefowl mound. Museum can be opened upon request.

Ongerup Wildflower Display
The annual botanical event is held during late September and early October at the Ongerup/Needilup District Museum with 400 to 500 specimens of stunning local wildflowers and orchids.
