Noonbah (which means Red Soil) is southwest of Longreach, in Western Queensland. The area abounds in different landforms, which give a wide range of habitats for different species of plants, birds, and animals. From red sandplains to sandstone ridges peppered with ghost gums, from arid Acacia woodland to channel country and through to spinifex-covered hard country, it will keep you endlessly fascinating.

Boom and bust country, bounces between drought and flooding rains, with short periods in between. Noonbah is now being run by its fourth generation of the Emmott family.

If you’re a self-contained bush camper and would like to spend some time by one of Australia’s beautiful outback waterholes, contact the owners of this magnificent property. The iconic landscapes, flora and fauna, birds, and clear star-filled night skies offer endless opportunities for the experienced, and even the amateur, photographer to get spectacular shots to take with you.

The sites are large and drive-through, so space is not an issue, but there are no services out here, so the right equipment and setup are essential.

The last 56km is dirt, so it can be affected by wet weather. Campers must check on current conditions by contacting the station owners before heading out.

HOW TO GET THERE
The site is two hours SW of Longreach in outback Qld. From Longreach take the Thomson Developmental Road (Route 79) towards Stonehenge- Jundah-Windorah- Birdsville, After 103km turn right onto Tarcombe Tonkoro Road which becomes Westerton Road for a total of 54km to the driveway on your left.

SITE ACCESS
Follow the drive for 1.3km to the homestead.  All the road from the main road (55km) is gravel and may be impassable after rain.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Booking is required to verify the road conditions and directions. Advisable to arrive in daylight.
Fee is $10 per night per vehicle.

We offer half-day natural history tours for those who wish to gain a deeper appreciation of our natural world. Homestead smokos will also be available and are included free in the natural history tours.
