Set on 144 privately owned acres between Bundaberg and Gladstone, and the Highway and the coast, this picturesque campground is indeed a lovely spot for a rest if that’s what you are looking for. If a little exercise is more to your liking, the property has around 600m of Baffle Creek frontage, with many creekside beaches to launch or haul up your own kayak (or hire one of theirs) while meandering down the stunningly beautiful waterway, stopping off for a picnic or a swim, or even a spot of fishing along the way. You can also explore the property and enjoy the natural bushland and native fauna that call this place ‘Home’.
There are a number of large, shaded sites to choose from in the camping area, each only minutes from the creek. There are bush long drop toilets near the campground, but no amenities or power, so whether you are camping in a tent or have a trailer, caravan or motor home, you will need to be self-contained while you are here. The road and campsite area could be a bit tight if you are in a big rig, so call first for advice and information about your set-up.
Bookings are essential, not only to confirm your spot, but also to check on road conditions, as wet weather can make the access difficult or even, at times, impassable.
The small, historic township of Rosedale has a number of interesting old buildings to explore, including The Rosedale Hotel, The Tiny Tea-house and the Anglican Church.
Well behaved pets are permitted at the site, with all the usual common sense and courtesy rules applying. Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
HOW TO GET THERE
Turn East off the Bruce Highway just South of the Granite Creek Rest Area ( 62km North of Gin Gin). Follow John Clifford Way for 14.9km and turn right onto Lowmead Road; after a further 14.9km turn left into Tableland Road. After 5.7km turn left into Tesch Road.
SITE ACCESS
After turning into Tesch road, follow it for 1km right to the end. You will see a 2 storey older Queenslander which belongs to the owners. Follow signs and set up; the owner will come down in the afternoon to greet you and collect money.
