SITE ACCESS
Turn off Homer Street onto Oibell Drive, there is a dirt track on the left. Parking is about 15m from the start of the dirt road.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Whilst technically known as a free camping area, donation to maintain the grounds and provide tourism facilities will be gratefully accepted by the community.  There is a small green donation box at the entrance.  We encourage you to keep the site clean and please support the local community with a visit to town.

THINGS TO DO
Local attractions that the guests will love and enjoy are the following:

Anzac Grove
As Gundagai’s main war memorial, Anzac Grove features an original World War I Memorial hand-crafted by the late Frank Rusconi. The memorial sits at the centre of a grove of 52 kurrajong trees, representing the 52 Gundagai soldiers who died in the Great War.

Dad Dave Mum & Mabel
A tribute to Steele Rudd’s famous “Snake Gully” characters, Dad, Dave, Mum & Mabel, this life size family has been immortalised in copper by sculptor Aurel Ragus. The characters are on display in Carberry Park adjacent to Gundagai Visitor Information and Travel Centre on Sheridan Street.

Dog on the Tucker Box
An internationally recognised Australian icon, the Dog on the Tucker Box is located 5 miles (8 km) north of Gundagai, just off the Hume Highway.

Gabriel Gallery
Gundagai is home to a truly unique, private collection of historic photographs which are now internationally known as the Gabriel Collection.

Gold Trails of NSW
Explore the Highlights of the Gold Trails and discover for yourself how this golden heritage vein underpins the story of the towns, villages and landscapes of NSW.

Gundagai Gaol
Entertaining and informative self-guided audio tours of this newly opened heritage site are now available daily (hire a player, headphones and pick up the key from the Visitor Information Centre).

The Old Gundagai Gaol stands at the corner of First Avenue and Byron St, surrounded by a high wall of local slate with rendered capping.

Gundagai Historical Museum
Those interested in history will find the Gundagai Historical Museum fascinating.

Gundagai Railway
The Gundagai Railway station was built in 1885 and was officially declared open for public use on the 1st June, 1886.

Historic bridges
The landscape at Gundagai is dominated by four bridges spanning the Murrumbidgee flats: the historic Prince Alfred Bridge, the timber Railway Bridge, and now the dual Sheahan bridges of the Hume Highway.

Main Street Walking Tour
A pleasant 2km stroll viewing many historic points of interest. This walk starts and finishes at the Gundagai Visitor Information Centre, heading east (away from the highway) firstly.

Marble Masterpiece
The sculptor of the famous Dog on the Tuckerbox, Frank Rusconi, also left another impressive legacy for Gundagai in the form of a unique cathedral-in-miniature. Coined ‘Rusconi’s Marble Masterpiece’, Rusconi wanted to showcase the diversity and beauty of NSW marble.

Moonlight’s Grave
One of the local bushranging tales surrounds the exploits of Andrew George Scott – better known as Captain Moonlight. Moonlight’s final wish was to be buried near his two friends in the North Gundagai Cemetery, under the shade of a eucalypt.
