The Maryvale Crown Hotel is situated in the small township of Maryvale in the picturesque farming area near Cunningham’s Gap. New owners Annie and Michael Keddy are offering travellers Free Camping at the back of the hotel as well as a range of Budget Luxe Hotel Accommodation.
Just 1½ hours drive from Brisbane and 2 hours from the Gold Coast makes this the ideal destination for a weekend country getaway and the perfect place to stay while you explore all the attractions of the Scenic Rim and Southern Downs area.
The level, grassy and spacious campsite provides free camping for travellers in tents camper trailers, caravans, motorhomes and big rigs. The campsite is pet friendly and there is no time limit to your stay allowing you to eat, drink and stay all in the one place. There are some shady areas at the site and lovely views of the surrounding mountains. Power is available on request for a minimal fee but this is limited so if you do require power it may be best to call ahead. Campers are also free to use the shower and toilet in the hotel at no extra charge.
If you want a night out of the tent or need somewhere comfortable to sleep, why not stay a night or two in one of the budget luxe rooms. Annie and Michael have been extremely busy renovating and restoring the historic hotel which first opened its doors to customers in early 1913. The newly refurbished hotel rooms all have air conditioning, heating and magnificent pressed metal ceilings throughout. Most of the rooms have a balcony where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the fresh country air and beautiful mountain views.
Open from 10am to midnight 7 days a week the hotel features a rustic bar, indoor lounge and dining areas with fire places and outdoor dining and separate beer garden as well as a dine-in and takeaway menu. Lunch is served daily from 12pm to 2pm and dinner from 6pm to 8pm from an extensive menu of delicious home cooked country meals. Don’t forget to ask about the daily special or choose from an assortment of Chicken, Fish or Steak Meals, mouthwatering Burgers, locally made Godmother Pies, Cheese Platters and more.
Most weekends there is live entertainment, Friday nights from 6.30pm to 7.30pm is Happy Hour and on the last Saturday of each month they hold a “Pig on the Spit” night with live music. This has become an extremely popular night so bookings are advisable. There is ample parking available but if you’re staying in the area and don’t want to drive, they also provide a courtesy pickup and drop off on weekends.
If you need a few bits and pieces or a petrol top up, the Fisher Park Service Station is only 8 mins from the hotel. For any other essential or medical needs the well serviced town of Warwick is a short 25 min drive.
Annie and Michael welcome all Free Range Camping members to stop in and say hi, have a cold drink or a meal and enjoy the friendly service and unique, fun and welcoming atmosphere at the only pub in town, the ‘Merry’ Maryvale Crown Hotel.
HOW TO GET THERE
From Warwick travelling on National Highway 15on The Hotel is only 81kms from the Yamanto entry to the Cunningham Highway to the Maryvale Rd turn off. Continue on Maryvale Rd.which becomes Taylor St. and the hotel is on the left.

With ample space around, it’s best to park up and see the hotel staff for instructions.

THINGS TO DO
You will never be short of places to visit and things to see and do in the area and surrounding towns. Regular Country Markets are held in Warwick, Stanthorpe, Yangan, and Killarney and wine lovers will enjoy visiting one of the 32 wineries and vineyards in the Southern Downs including the quaint village wineries in Allora, a short 25 minute drive and Killarney (via Yangan) – 45 minutes.

Enjoy picturesque rugged mountain landscapes, waterfalls and bubbling creeks, lookouts with breath taking views across the valley, rare and unique wildlife and exhilarating walks.
Warwick (25min)
Historic Warwick sits on the banks of the Condamine River and features some of the States finest original sandstone buildings. Warwick is known for its roses, Rodeo and the Jumpers and Jazz Festival. You may also like to visit Morgan Park, or Leslie Dam for some freshwater fishing and water sports.

Dennis and I have recently moved to Maryvale, and are regular Friday night attendees! We have been welcomed into the growing community and have made wonderful friends.
