Peaceful camp with an amazing sunset.
The site at Lake Ninan is located 10 kilometres west of Wongan Hills on Calingiri Road with no facilities other than picnic tables and waste bins. The pet-friendly campground is accessible to self-contained vehicles such as motorhomes, caravans, camper trailers, and big rigs.
When the lake is full, it is used for water skiing, sailing, canoeing, etc. and there is an abundance of different water birds at this time.
In 1917 the lake was filled and overflowed. The next overflow was in 1963. The lake was 4.5 metres deep when the overflow happened and ended up a 0.5 deep overflow. In 1999 history was made again with Lake Hinds overflowing on 25th July for the third time in white-mans history. It is free to stay, so if you are staying at this site we encourage you to help keep it clean, and please visit and support the town.
