Kookaburra Park is quite unique in many ways.

You don’t have to book. Just roll up. We cater for everything from the biggest rigs to the most humble tent. Find a spot that suits you and make yourself at home. Someone will swing by that evening to collect fees and answer all the questions you will have by then. No power is available at the sites.

There are 600 acres of bush to wander around in while bird watching, kangaroo counting, photographing, sight-seeing, and just chilling out. The granite rock formations are simply amazing. Mountain bike riding is also very popular.

The amenities are clean, light and airy, with modern fixtures so you certainly aren’t going to feel like you’re roughing it.

All pets are welcome but make sure they are on leads and that you clean up their mess.

Supplies are available at the nearby towns of Deepwater or Tenterfield, with the latter being larger and having all the regional facilities, including medical.

Tenterfield has an active Historical Society, with loads of displays of machinery, photos, furniture and memorabilia. There are various exhibits relating to one of Tenterfield’s most famous sons – Peter Allen, and the Tenterfield Saddler’s cottage and celebrated verandah (now a museum) is open most days in the town.

A wonderful place to chill out, amenities are first class we’d come again in a heat beat. Do yourself a favour and turn off highway and camp here. Note – very novel dump point! No power or TV reception
