Kilkivan Bush Camping and Caravan Park is nestled in the foothills of the Oakview State Forest, next to Fat Hen Creek, where you can relax in total peace. It’s a great Aussie bush setting away from the noise and rush of city life. The area is also well known for its birdlife.
Campers, caravans and motorhomes can all find spacious sites in the park, with good shade and with or without power and water. There is always plenty of room, even at the busiest of times. You will also find plenty of fireplaces and BBQ points around the park as well. Some wood is usually available, or you can bring your own to help out.
Up to 24 people can also be accommodated in the park’s camping huts. There is a large undercover area, including a camp kitchen. Self-cater or the owners can cater for you from their own commercial kitchen by prior arrangement. Pets and Horses are most welcome.
Kilkivan was the site of the first discovery of gold in Queensland, which soon led to the gold rush of the 1860’s. The area’s rich and fascinating history can be found at the Kilkivan and District museum and in some of the old local architecture which has been well preserved around the town. The town has all the services you’d expect in a quiet country centre, including a doctor’s surgery and a mechanic’s workshop.
