Kauri Walkers Camp – Great Sandy National Park (CG)

Kauri walker’s camp sits on a ridge of rainforest. Here you can forget about the outside world and be one with nature. In Cooloola, kauri pine Agathis robusta occur naturally at the southern limit of their range. The excellent specimen growing nearby shows this species distinctive ‘gun barrel’ trunk.

SITE ACCESS
Kauri walkers’ camp is 73.5km from the Cooloola Great Walk ‘s southern entrance and 20km from Litoria walkers’ camp.
Getting to the Cooloola Great Walk southern entrance
The southern entrance at the Arthur Harrold Nature Refuge on the Noosa North Shore is approximately five kilometres from Tewantin CBD. Taxi services are available. A public bus service runs seven days a week.
Getting to the Cooloola Great Walk northern entrance
The northern entrance of the Cooloola Great Walk is at the Carlo Sandblow carpark approximately 1.5km from the Rainbow Beach central business district. Taxi services are available.

Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. Book in advance for all weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Bookings can be made up to 12 months in advance.
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.55 per person per night or $26.20 per family group per night.
$3.60 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free.

FACILITIES
Untreated drinking water, composting hybrid toilet system, low level tables in the group area.

RULES
Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails.
Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
