Situated between Townsville and Cairns, Ingham is a great place to base yourself while exploring the northern Queensland coastal region. Just 3 km south of the town, Ingham Tourist Park is a pet-friendly park set in peaceful surrounds, with palm and other varieties of trees providing plenty of shade.
Owners David and Amy Kerby took the park over in late 2018 and since then have been steadily refurbishing and upgrading facilities. They offer on-site accommodation as well as campsites for those travelling in RVs or with tents. Campsites are all flat and grassed and are available with or without power. Many of the powered sites have a concrete slab, and some have drive-through access.
On-site accommodation consists of nine units, some of which have ensuites, including a family unit that sleeps up to six. Non-ensuite units share the clean central amenities block with campers. All units are air conditioned and have a TV and cooking facilities, and linen is provided. There is also an on-site caravan available for guests.
In addition to the amenities block, park facilities include a laundry with coin-operated washing machines and dryers and a salt water pool that gives guests somewhere to cool off after a day of travelling or exploring. The park also has a kiosk that sells basic groceries, ice, cold drinks and ice creams. Gas bottle refills are also available as well as a dump point, and there is free wi-fi throughout the park.
Campers without their own cooking facilities can use the park’s camp kitchen, which is equipped with fridge, stove, microwave, TV and two barbecues. The camp kitchen is also the site of a free weekly breakfast for guests. Days are chosen randomly each week, and guests are welcome to get together for their complimentary meal of bacon, eggs and toast between 7.30 am and 8.30 am on the chosen day.
For supplies not available at the park and other needs, Ingham is a well-serviced town. It has a variety of stores including a couple of supermarkets, cafes and restaurants, automotive services, vet, medical services including hospital, Centrelink and Medicare office and more.
HOW TO GET THERE
