Grass Hut Station – Ravenswood (CG)

Grass Hut Station is a station outside Mingela with grassy lawn that is suitable for caravans. They have powered and unpowered sites with toilet and shower. Lunch or dinners are also available. It is a great place to stay at as it has a lot of activities as well. The owners, Barry and Liz, often train for camp drafting with their horses. They even camp draft with a bunch of bisons and practiced with their horses. Definitely a lovely surrounding which you’ll call a real Australian station!

HOW TO GET THERE
It is located 56km from Charters Towers or 98km from Townsville, At 47km from Charters Towers or  89km from Townsville  turn South onto Burdekin Falls Dam Road (signs for Mingela) and turn left to stay on Burdekin Falls Dam Road. Grass Hut Station is on the left.after 9km.

SITE ACCESS
Site access is via Burdekin Falls Dam Road which is dirt road. You’ll see a fence with a signpost at the right side. Just follow the pathway and turn right to proceed to the site.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Fees are $20 Unpowered or $32 with power per night.

THINGS TO DO
Some of the attractions you can visit include Courthouse Museum, Mabel Mill, A. L. Wilson’s house, St Patrick’s Church and Leichhardt Range. The mullock heaps, the old shafts, the chimneys, and the old buildings make it an informative adventure into history.
