Your friendly hosts at ‘The Goldie’, Ken and Anne, couldn’t stay away, and have returned to their beloved pub 18 years after moving away to take care of their kids’ schooling, amongst other things. They are back now, and like them, you’ll have no trouble keeping this fabulous pub and park on your permanent “Favourites” list.

With everything from campsites to powered, easy access sites for big rigs, the park caters for all travellers, with some discounts for FRC Premium Members. Renovated, air-conditioned hotel style rooms are available at the pub too, with very reasonable rates, and the extensive menu and great meals in the dining room will satisfy from the smallest to the largest appetites. There are even Wednesday and Sunday night Specials in the dining room, so staying for at least a few days is certainly on the cards.

For the Banjo Patterson fans, you’re “On the Outer Barcoo, where churches are few, and men of religion (may still be) scanty”, but the fish are all fattened and ready for the end of July every year when The Isisford Fishing Comp brings hopefuls from all around to try their luck.

Those interested in history and old machinery will be well satisfied with the wealth of places to visit in the area.

You’ll find all the amenities in the park, as well as all the usual town services, will make your stay here a memorable one, and even your well behaved pets will want you to return.

HOW TO GET THERE

THINGS TO DO
Outer Barcoo Interpretation Centre
Located at 12 St Mary Street, the Outer Barcoo Interpretation Centre is a museum “depicting the evolution of nature from 100 million years ago to the present”.

Isisford is known for its historical beginnings in the mid 1800’s. One proof is a museum that displays a replica of the 98 million year old Isisfordia duncani and a 100 million year old bulldog fish. Apart from that, the Outer Barcoo Interpretation Centre also has a theatre, café, local arts and crafts displays.

Fishing and water activities with boat ramp access is available at Oma Waterhole, southwest of Isisford. Another waterhole that you can visit is the Yuranigh Pond where you can find the plaque and shelter in honor of Major Mitchell and his aboriginal friend.
