OVERVIEW
Some places make you exhale the moment you pull in, and Yarraman Caravan Park & Cabins is one of them. Sitting high on a hill on the edge of the Yarraman State Forest, this family-run park hands you the best of country Queensland: paddocks of grazing cows on one side, tall forest on the other, and a night sky so thick with stars you’ll forget your phone exists. I’ve rolled into plenty of parks over the years, and the easy, unhurried feel here is the real deal. Yarraman is the kind of town where time slows down and the welcome is genuine.

Set across a roomy 12 acres in the Toowoomba Region of the South Burnett, the park gives you space to actually breathe. The sites are generous at 12m x 12m, so big rigs, camper trailers, and tents all settle in without bumping elbows. If canvas and steel aren’t your thing, the cabins range from snug couples’ retreats to family-sized digs that sleep five, all of them self-contained and ready to go. Best of all, the whole place is genuinely pet-friendly, so the dog rides shotgun and stays for the trip too, with no sneaky surcharges.

What sets this spot apart is the little touches. There’s a natural swimming pool with no chlorine or chemicals, just clean water for cooling off on a warm afternoon. Three herb and veggie gardens are yours to raid, so fresh rosemary, chillies, and limes can find their way into dinner. A camp kitchen, two covered picnic areas, a communal firepit, and a brand-new amenities block with private individual bathrooms round out a setup that feels thoughtfully built for travellers.

The location is a quiet winner. You’re roughly two hours from both Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, and about three from the Gold Coast, which makes Yarraman a brilliant base or an easy overnight stop on a longer haul. The northern head of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail begins right here in town, the Bunya Mountains are within reach, and wineries, waterfalls, and historic railway tunnels are all close by.

Wake to birdsong, wander a forest trail, swim, then settle in around the fire as the sky turns gold. That’s a Yarraman day, and it’s a hard one to beat.

HOW TO GET THERE
Yarraman Caravan Park & Cabins is at 12121 D’Aguilar Highway, Yarraman QLD 4614, in the Toowoomba Region of the South Burnett. The town sits at the junction of the New England Highway and the D’Aguilar Highway, making it an easy spot to reach from almost any direction.

From Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast, allow around two hours, and from the Gold Coast about three hours. Coming up from Toowoomba, follow the New England Highway (A3) north through Crows Nest and on to Yarraman. Travelling from Kingaroy or Nanango, head south-east along the D’Aguilar Highway, passing through Blackbutt before you reach town.

Once you arrive in Yarraman, the park sits right on the D’Aguilar Highway and is within walking distance of the township, so it is simple to find. If you are riding in along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, there is a safe, non-highway route from the trail head in Yarraman to the park – check the map included in your booking confirmation email.
