Located in the township of Gayndah,158 kms NW of Gympie QLD is the Gayndah Heritage Railway Camp Site. The quiet and secluded campsite sits beside the Heritage Railway Station. The site overlooks the M Class Series Sunlander Carriages, offering travellers 24 – 48 hrs stay. This campsite is only suitable for self contained vehicles although there is drinking water and toilets at the station and you do not need to retain your grey water
Gayndah Heritage is a non-profit group and all money received goes into restoration of the station and carriages. Gayndah Heritage Railway is a static display of carriages and wagons with a dining car, club car and sleeper along with a baggage car and wagons. Free tours are available by our friendly volunteers.
HOW TO GET THERE
Located on the north side of Gayndah, 1km from the main street in a quiet location away from the highway. From the Burnett Highway, go north-east into Bridge Street (straight ahead from the bridge, or left turn of coming from the west). After 250m bear left into Walker Street and continue to the end.
SITE ACCESS
Park to the right on the grassed area and if no volunteers are in the office they will be around about 4pm to collect fees.
FEES AND BOOKINGS
Fees are $5 per person per night. Maximum 3 night stay.
A donation of $2 is requested if you fill your water tanks.

Caravans and Motorhomes only including big rigs.

Gayndah offers an authentic country experience with a variety of relaxing and interesting attractions. The town is attractive with well-presented colonial buildings.
Gayndah Heritage Railway Carriages Static Display
Gayndah Museum
Open fro 9am – 4pm daily the Museum lets you see what family life was like in rural Queensland during the second half of the 19th Century. You will enjoy seeing the extensive collection of historic photographs, a display of vintage vehicles and machinery, operating and non-operating steam engines and Lung Fish including an interpretive display and two live lung fish.
Archers Lookout
Gayndah sits below the twin hills to the south, affectionately know as the “Duke and Duchess”. Archer’s Lookout sits on the Duke providing an excellent perspective of the whole region.

Open Tuesdays – Sundays 10am – 4pm.

We stayed here in July 2017,Fantastic quiet place to stay for fully self contained.Very impressed with this venue all round.RED HINDMARSH
We have travelled through Gaynda many times but have not camped there.Next time we are over that way we will stop for a day or 2.It is a lovely little township. Al.
We stayed last year(2017 ) after the Offical opening and loved it,they are doing a GREAT job and are so friendly and helpful .Gayndah is a top spot we be back for sure.
