Fitzroy River Reserve Campground is located on Thomsons Road, west of Port Fairy via the Princess Highway with a large and grassy site. The campground is situated on the banks of the Fitzroy River with scattered eucalyptus and coastal scrub surrounding it.
The pet-friendly reserve is an open flat grassy area located near the ocean. The site offers basic facilities and can be accessed by caravans and big rigs with areas suitable for tents.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Fitzroy River Reserve Campground is located on Thompson’s Road (via Princes Highway) Tyrendarra East. Thompson’s Road is 40km West of Port Fairy or 36km East of Portland. Follow the road by name going right at the first crossroads, then left at the next junction, and follow it to the coastline. The road makes a 90 degree left turn and then, as it turns right the campground is on your left, 4.2km from the Princes Highway.

Fee is $8/night per site, collected on-site daily. Free in off-peak periods.

this is a great spot close to home for those weekend get away or longer stay worth the fee to keep the site maintained fishing is good however at moment hit and miss as the river mouth closed
