Finchley campground – Yengo National Park (CG)

There are a total of 4 sites at this location. The location is suitable for Camping beside my vehicle, and Tents.

For something secluded but still packed with points of interest, Finchley campground is a good bet for self-sufficient travellers. Offering four basic sites, wood barbecues, and Non-flush toilets. there are almost never any crowds here – unless you count the native birds and resident goannas.

A short walk from the campground is the special Finchley Aboriginal Area, created in 1976 to protect one of the largest and most accessible engraving sites in the region. A spectacular lookout is right nearby as well: Finchley Trig, framing Mount Yengo in the distance. Don’t forget the camera.

One of the campground’s best offerings is not apparent until nightfall though, when the lack of light pollution leaves the sky open to an unparalleled vista of the stars. Bring a telescope if you happen to have one, or simply lay back on a blanket during warm spring nights, appreciating the view.

SITE ACCESS
Unsealed road/trail – 2WD vehicles – 4WD required in wet weather..
On entering Yengo National Park: Take Yango Creek Road from either Wollombi or Laguna
From Upper Yango Creek Road turn onto Finchley track to access the campground which is 500m from the Aboriginal engraving site.

Please note: GPS Co-Ordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you as close to the camp site as possible, or to the National Park entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping $5 per adult per night. $3 per child per night.
Bookings are not available at this campground.

RULES
Sites are not marked. Water is not available at this campground, so you’ll need to bring your own supply for drinking and cooking.
This is a remote campground, so please make sure you arrive well-prepared.
Firewood is not provided and may not be collected from the park, so you’ll need to bring your own supply.
Sites are not powered.. Rubbish bins are not available – please take rubbish with you when leaving..
Check the weather before you set out as the road to Finchley campground can become boggy when it rains.
Please note noise restrictions apply at this campground.
Domestic animals may not be brought into this campground.
Please do not feed the wildlife.
Please respect the Aboriginal engraving site and do not walk on or mark the carvings; penalties apply.
