Eugowra Showground (CG)

Eugowra Showground is in the central west of NSW and it is great central base for exploring the area. Situated on the rich basin of the Lachlan River, Eugowra is a tiny country town known for its crafts. Nearby on the Orange – Forbes Road, the famous Gold Escort Robbery took place in 1862.

The Showground offers powered and unpowered grassy sites with plenty of space for any type of traveller be it tents, buses, camper trailers, RV’s and even the big rigs, there is lots of room for everyone and many of the site’s have plenty of shade. This camp has modern clean amenities with disabled access, hot showers, water and it is pet friendly.

There is a maximum stay of 48 hours and you will need to get a key to access the facilities which are available at the Lady Bushranger Cafe, post office and the local supermarket.

Eugowra has a range of food choices from full function catering to dine-in restaurants, counter lunches, takeaways or just the grab the ingredients from the Supermarket for a delightful picnic lunch under the trees beside the creek. While you’re in there picking up your groceries, fruit, veg and bread, have a chat, grab a newspaper, leave your dry cleaning or, you might like to buy a lottery ticket or try a scratchy, just for luck! Make sure to take a stroll around the village with its boutique shops and arts and crafts shops then head back to camp for a BBQ after visiting the local butcher locally known as the “Snag King”.

Please Note: The Showground also hosts the Eugowra Show and the Canola Cup (harness race) so site’s may not be available mid to late September, but at other times it is quiet peaceful.

They also host the Country Fair so if you’re lucky enough to be there in October, April or July you will be able to see the many talents and skills of the local community with everyone welcome. This is a free fun event for both visitors to Eugowra and locals.

HOW TO GET THERE
Eugowra is on The Escort Way between Cudal and Forbes. At the junction/turn in the Escort Way at the Central Hotel go south east into Pye Street and keep left, after 1km turn left into Noble Street; the Showground entrance is 40m on the left.

Head in and look for amenities block as Instructions are listed there.
The amenities key is available at both the Supermarket and Lady Bushranger.

THINGS TO DO
Eugowra is famous for it’s association with Bushrangers. Bushranger stories and local history are on display at the Historical Museum and the Bushranger Centre.

Enjoy the historic charm and discover the renowned murals painted on buildings throughout the village. There is plenty of history to absorb, shopping and places to eat. A twilight drive in any direction will reward you with amazing views.
