Townsville is the largest urban centre in central North Queensland, with Magnetic Island just off the coast and access to the Great Barrier Reef. On land, the lush tropical coastal rainforest gives way to the iconic dry Australian scrub further inland, so there is a great diversity of natural environments to explore in the area.
Just off the Bruce Highway on the outskirts of Townsville, this well-appointed park has options to suit all travellers. There are shady, grassed powered and unpowered sites for tents, and slabs (with or without ensuites) for everything from small vans to the larger rigs. The sites are spacious and level, and both shady and more open sites are available. There is also a wide choice of self-contained cabins to suit from two to six people at the park for those who prefer them. The modern, clean facilities and entertainment areas make the park an ideal location for those travelling alone, as well as couples and families.
Well behaved pets are permitted at the park, with the usual common sense and courtesy conditions applying. A prior phone call before arriving to confirm a suitable site is available would be appreciated to avoid disappointment.
There are numerous attractions in the area, with sites showcasing the social, technological and natural history of the region abounding. Just a few of those within a short drive from the park include Billabong Sanctuary and Australian Native Wildlife Park, Townsville Maritime Museum, Reef Aquarium and the National Trust Heritage Centre, so this park is a good base from which to explore the district.
The park also incorporates a service station, so you can fill up at the door as you head out for the day’s activities.
Member discounts are available for G’DAY Rewards members and affiliates. See the website for details.
