A picturesque mining relic 20km west of Georgetown, the Cumberland Chimney is all that stands of the gold crushing plant. There is a free overnight rest area situated here, however, there are no facilities.
The man-made lagoon close to the Chimney is home to a myriad of birdlife. Some parts of this site remain contaminated to this day, so it is important to pay attention to all warnings and signage.
There is no charge for the use of this facility, so if you are staying at this site we encourage you to help keep it clean, and please visit and support the nearest town or village.
We are still in the process of obtaining more information about this site.
