Great free overnight spot.
This is a well-shaded and popular site just out of Woodford, just before the main D’Aguilar Highway intersection. It is technically a rest area, but they permit 20 Hour Stays. There are several areas scattered throughout, some on level ground and some not so level. There are some nice grass areas available also. You have the choice of shaded sites, or out in the open if you need to use your solar panels.
Access is easy and it accommodates all size vehicles including Big Rigs. There is plenty of space to manoeuvre.
There is a new amenities block with toilets only, located right next to the old one which is still in use. They are kept clean and maintained daily. There are small water tanks for fresh drinking water and a small shelter for BBQÕs. There is also a great children’s playground. At night there is some highway noise, but not often.
There is a nice backdrop of rolling hills and mountains from the flat pad on the top of the site. There is also a small area that is cordoned off and well marked. They do not permit camping in this area due to treated water used in the area.

There is no charge for the use of this facility, so if you are staying at this site we encourage you to help keep it clean, and please visit and support the nearest town or village.
Whilst this area is technically a Rest Area, the Department of Transport has permitted the use of this particular Rest Area for Overnight Stays.
