Cooper Creek Windorah Campground: A Peaceful Getaway in Queensland
The famous Cooper’s Creek is located just 10km east of Windorah. Here you will find plenty of free camping sites, set amongst the shady river red gums. There are no facilities on-site other than toilets provided on the eastern bank of the creek as well as some waste bins. You might want to bring your own firewood. Showers are available at the caravan park for a Gold coin donation, and the dump point is located on the edge of town before you get to Cecil Street.
Fishing, bird watching, and relaxing are all great ways to pass the time while camping at Cooper’s Creek.
Windorah has all the required facilities to make your stay enjoyable, fuel, groceries, hotel, airport, museum, information centre.
HOW TO GET THERE
Accessed on sealed roads from both Longreach and Quilpie via the sealed Diamantina Development Road, just near the bridge. It is located approximately 10km East of Windorah.
FEES & BOOKINGS
There are no bookings required, it is first on best-dressed basis. Gets busy around wintertime. As there is no fee to stay, you are encouraged to support the local town businesses.
