Cassilis Rest Area Free Camp (FC)

Great overnight stop along Golden Highway.

Cassilis Rest Area Free Camp is an overnight stop for 24 hours located along Golden Highway accessible to vehicles from directions. The site is pet-friendly with basic facilities available. It is accessible to motorhomes, caravans, camper trailers, and big rigs with areas suitable for tents.

HOW TO GET THERE
Cassilis Rest Area is located on the Golden Highway,  48.5km west of Merriwa, or  2.5km east of the junction with Ulan Road (from Mudgee).

SITE ACCESS
There are several entrances/exits enabling access from both directions and the area has a large bitumen section at the front and a gravel area at the rear with more shaded campsites.

FEES & BOOKINGS
There is no charge for the use of this facility, so if you are staying at this site we encourage you to help keep it clean and tidy.

RULES
There is a limit of 24 hours at this location.
If you intend to travel on Australia’s major roads or highways, you need to plan your rest breaks to combat fatigue. Driver fatigue is one of the three main killers on NSW roads and can be as dangerous as speeding or drink driving.

NSW provides areas to rest or stop in some of the following ways.
Rest Areas, Stopping Bays, Lookouts, Parks, Truck Parking Bays, Reserves & Information Bays.
These areas should be utilised according to their intended use.

Please note: Rest areas are not designed to be camping grounds or caravan parks. Using rest areas for multiple overnight stays as part of a planned itinerary is not in keeping with their intended purpose. Those needing facilities for an extended stay are encouraged to look for camping areas or caravan parks in towns along the way.
