Hi All, Welcome to my Camp Laniakea.
Camp Laniakea is set in the most peaceful of settings, right on the edge of the Nightcap National Park. The campgrounds are ideal for anyone just wanting to kick back in nature and enjoy their adventure. You are sure to feel revitalised after camping in this private, relaxing and peaceful back to basics campsite that feels like you are deep within a rainforest.
There are a variety of sites for you to choose from including tent only sites where you cannot park the car to sites with full access that are more level and suitable for 2WD camper vans, caravans and large tents
Facilities are limited to the basics, and it is asked that you remove your own rubbish. Campfires are permitted in designated areas only and please BYO water for drinking and for use in the provided camp shower.
Laniakea, means ‘immeasurable heaven, in Polynesian. It is also the name of the super cluster of galaxies, home to our own galaxy.
HOW TO GET THERE
Best access is to find your way to a locality called The Channon, which you can get to from Nimbin in the North, or Lismore to the South. From The Channon, look for Wallace Road, which runs of the main road which is Tuntable Creek Road. The entrance is about 6.5km along Wallace Road.
SITE ACCESS
Gate is locked so please ring first to arrange arrival time. Tanya is usually there to meet you and direct you on, however, if no one is there when you arrive, head down the driveway for 30m and you will see the tree on the left that doubles as a Notice Board. You will need to sign the waiver to proceed.
The road in is gravel and can be a little bumpy at times and is fine to 4 x 4’s and even two wheel drives with a light trailer, though in the wet it is a little slippery.
