Byra Lagoon bush camping area features open area shaded by coolibahs and river red gums. The camping area is 500 m from the ranger station and can be reached by 4WD (only). It is accessible for high clearance off-road camper trailers only. It is not accessible for caravans and buses.
Number of sites: open areas without separately defined sites.
Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car and camper trailer.
Camp site surface: dirt.
SITE ACCESS
It is adjacent to the ranger station and 900 m from the eastern access to the park. Obtain a detailed map from the self-registration stand or the ranger station.
From St George, travel 160 km south to Hebel on a sealed road then 45 km south to Goodooga along an unsealed road which becomes impassable after rain. From Goodooga, turn right into Brenda Road then take the left fork after the cattle grid and follow the ‘Byra 7 km’ sign. A 4WD is essential.
From Cunnamulla, travel east 3 km along the Balonne Highway and turn right onto the Mitchell Highway. Travel 29 km and turn left onto Jobs Gate Road and travel 90 km to the park. A 4WD is essential and roads become impassable after rain.
Please note: GPS Coordinates are approximate and provided in most cases to get you to the entrance. Once inside the park there should be signs to the actual camp grounds. Failing this please check with National Parks for further directions.
FEES & BOOKINGS
Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. Self-registration stand available on arrival.
Fees for camping permits are:
$6.55 per person per night or $26.20 per family group per night.
$3.60 per person per night for students and accompanying adults on approved excursions.
FAMILY RATE. For camping fees, a family group is defined as one or two adults and accompanying children under 18, up to a total of 8 people. Children under 5 years of age are free. Read more about CAMPING COSTS & BOOKINGS.

There are no facilities on the site.
RULES
Keep to defined vehicle tracks and walking trails.
Camp in designated areas to avoid damage to fragile vegetation.
Take rubbish home with you – if you carry it in, carry it out.
