About 30 minutes’ drive and a whole world away from the hustle and bustle and excitement of Noosa’s Hastings Street lies the tranquil Boreen Point Campground on the shore of Lake Cootharaba. This is the largest of a number of lakes within the Noosa River System and the sandy shoreline of the lake borders the entire length of the park.

Set among the pristine natural bushland, this paradise for swimming, sailing, fishing and camping has been a popular destination for over 70 years and after staying for a few days it becomes easy to see why.

With the bitumen road sealed to the entrance and plenty of room to manoeuvre, access is easy for all types of rigs. You’ll find plenty of level shady sites to set up everything from tents and trailers to motorhomes, big rigs and 5th wheelers.

The toilets and showers are connected to bore-water, as there is no town water connected to the park. The bore-water is not suitable for drinking, so make sure you bring enough water with you. With plenty of large centres close by of course, it is easy to top up on supplies and fuel. Kayaks can be hired from the on-site office and boats, canoes, SUPs and kayaks can be left on the park’s beach overnight.

Hospital and medical facilities are also within easy reach, and Noosa’s variety of eateries and shopping opportunities is well known.

The Great Sandy National Park is just one of the numerous nearby attractions for nature lovers, and with an abundance of small hinterland townships to explore, everyone will be entertained, including the children. Many local markets are held in the region, probably the most famous of which is the Eumundi Market, now held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The whole region is geared towards promoting an enjoyable holiday for visitors and their families, no matter how long you choose to stay.

I rang the camp ground and was told the nightly rate is from $35.00 per night for unpowered site. More like a caravan park.

We stayed at this site about a month ago, good spot right on the lake. Facilities are pretty good, however the onsite managers are pretty rude and not very helpfull
