Blowholes Campground, nestled near Carnarvon in Western Australia, offers a captivating camping experience. This unique destination, about 75 kilometers north of Carnarvon, is renowned for its spectacular blowholes, where ocean swells create majestic jets of water that can soar up to 30 meters high. The area, part of the vast and picturesque Shark Bay region, is a true gem for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.

The allure of Blowholes Campground is not just in its natural phenomena but also in its rugged, pristine coastal environment. The campground itself, while basic in facilities, is embraced by a raw and untamed landscape, offering an authentic bush camping experience. This is a place where you can disconnect from the rush of everyday life and reconnect with nature. The campground provides a perfect vantage point to witness the awe-inspiring blowholes, observe whales migrating along the coastline during the season, and indulge in stargazing under the clear night skies.

Apart from the blowholes, the area is steeped in history and natural beauty. Nearby attractions like the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum, the remnants of the One Mile Jetty, and the heritage-rich Quobba Station add layers of cultural and historical interest to your visit. The Quobba coastline, with its sharp and wet rocks, demands respect but offers rewarding views and encounters with marine life, including humpback whales and dolphins. Whether it’s for the blowholes, the stark beauty of the coast, or the simple joy of camping in the wild, Blowholes Campground is a destination that should not be missed.

HOW TO GET THERE
The Quobba Blowholes are an iconic natural attraction located along the rugged coastline north of Carnarvon in Western Australia. To reach this breathtaking site, here are your directions:

From the town of Carnarvon, head north on North West Coastal Highway for approximately 24 kilometers. Look out for a sign indicating a turn-off to the left onto Blowholes Road. This is your signal to leave the main highway.

Take the left turn onto Blowholes Road, which is a sealed road that will take you straight to the Blowholes area. Continue on this road for about 49 kilometers. The journey is scenic, so take your time and enjoy the views.

As you near the end of Blowholes Road, you will find the Quobba Blowholes marked by a red marker on your right-hand side. This area is well-signed, so it’s hard to miss. On the way, you will pass the Quobba Lighthouse, which is a good reference point to ensure you’re on the correct path.

The final destination, Point Quobba Campground, is adjacent to the blowholes. You can’t miss the dramatic plumes of water and the sound of the ocean as it interacts with the coastline.

Please note that the final stretch can be quite remote, so ensure your vehicle is in good condition, and you have all necessary supplies, especially water and fuel, as services are limited once you leave Carnarvon. The drive is well worth it, offering both the adventure of a road trip and the stunning destination of the Quobba Blowholes.
