Located just one and a half hours drive northeast of Melbourne and at the western edge of Victoria’s High Country, BIG4 Taggerty Holiday Park sits in natural bushland and stretches for 1 km along the Acheron River.
Family owned and operated, the park offers a variety of accommodation options. For caravanners and campers, there are both powered and unpowered sites. Some of the powered sites have concrete slabs, and there are also a few sites with ensuites. The unpowered sites are all grassy. You can choose from sunny, shady or riverfront spots and there are some drive-through sites available. If you want some extra indoor space, there are cabins in a range of sizes and standards that sleep up to six people in two or three bedrooms.
With numerous activities on offer, your stay at BIG4 Taggerty Holiday Park can be as relaxing or as energetic as you like. With its river frontage, it’s the ideal place for fishing, kayaking, swimming or just splashing around. If you prefer not to swim in the river, the park also has a pool. For those more interested in land-based sports, there are areas for cricket, basketball, tennis and mini golf, and the younger kids are also well catered for with a playground, sandpit and jumping pillow. Or if that’s not enough to keep everyone in the family occupied, there’s also a games room and even a giant chess board for anyone who’d like some mental exercise.
Your visit to the Park doesn’t have to mean being constantly on the go, though. If you just want a quiet, relaxing stay by the river, you can do that too. The park also has the more usual campground facilities such as camp kitchen, barbecues and fire pit, as well as a laundry and dump point. Wireless internet is available as well.
Taggerty is a small town, but if you need some supplies the nearby general store sells groceries and local produce and also has a café and bottle shop. Alternatively Alexandra is only 18km away and has a range of other facilities including doctors, chemist, hospital, post office, as well as cafe’s, coffee shops, pubs and more.
HOW TO GET THERE
If travelling from Melbourne, you can follow the Maroondah Highway all the way to the park. When you get to Taggerty, go past the Taggerty–Thornton Road. The park is about 200m further along on the right.
If you take the Hume Highway from Melbourne or you’re coming from the north, head to Alexandra and turn right onto the Maroondah Highway. Follow the highway for about 17 km. The park is on the left not far past the 60 km/h signs as you approach Taggerty.
SITE ACCESS
Plenty of room for large motorhomes and caravans. On arrival, park in the driveway then go to reception, and you’ll be given an access key for the boom gate.

Fees are from $30/night for Unpowered Sites, $35/night for Powered Sites and $50/night for En-suite Powered Sites.
