If you want to check out the Murray River from the South Australian end, Blanchetown is the perfect spot to do it from. The Riverside Holiday Park is set in a relaxed and tranquil setting, right on the banks of the Murray River and only a short stroll from the centre of town. The park is a bird watchers paradise with a fishing pontoon at either end so you can dip your line and unwind while enjoying beautiful scenery.
Located right on the first lock built on the Murray River in 1922, the park is just 4 minutes from the oldest pub built on the mighty Murray and only 30 minutes drive from the wineries of the Riverland or the Barossa Valley. Both areas offer excellent restaurants, golf courses, historic sites and many other tourist attractions.
Riverside offers a large range of accommodation options to suit all budgets and styles. The large grassed caravan and camping sites are a combination of powered and en-suite sites and most with deco compacted camp pads on grass. Sites are shady and will accommodate camper trailers, caravans and motorhomes, including big rigs with drive through access right down to the river.
They have a full range of clean and well maintained facilities as listed below, including the newly upgraded BBQ area with lights, heating and a big TV screen as well as the communal fire pits where sitting by the fire at Happy Hour is still encouraged.
For those wishing to escape the van or meet up with family and friends who don’t have one, Riverside have a range of well-appointed affordable cabins including Family, Standard Ensuite and Spa Cabins up to their Executive Spa Suites.
If you need a few essentials or want dinner out the van, Blanchetown has a Mini Mart, Post Office/hardware, an RSL and Bowls Club and a couple of pubs. Waikeri is only a short 30 min drive from the park and well serviced with a Woolworths, Doctors, Chemist, a Hospital and more.
