BIG4 Aussie Outback Oasis Holiday Park (CP)

Charters Towers sits about 140km from Townsville on the road to Mt Isa, and reveals a fascinating insight into the central Qld way of life, from the early gold rush days to the present. This member of the Big4 chain of parks is indeed an oasis and well worth the stopover.

The park offers an excellent choice of sites for campers, with large, level well grassed sites up to 40 feet long, so it’ll accommodate even the biggest of rigs with ease. There are unpowered and powered sites, some with slabs if you’d prefer, with water and sullage disposal and drive through sites for easy access. Some sites are more shaded and some more open to help charge up the solar.

Whichever way you choose to go, the facilities available at the park will not disappoint, with a large resort style pool, clean and modern amenities, outback themed camp kitchen and fire pits just part of what the park has to offer. Wi-fi, Foxtel, ice and gas are also available, so you really won’t have to move far if you don’t want to.

On site accommodation includes a choice of studio cabins or villas that will sleep 3 to 5 people, up to deluxe and family chalets that will sleep up to 6 in comfort.

Being a large centre, the town provides access to all the necessary facilities such as medical, banking and grocery supplies.

Visitors will find plenty of places of interest in and around Charters Towers. One of the Gold Rush era towns established in the 1870’s, it retains many historic and heritage listed sites and buildings, including homes, banks and public buildings. The town once boasted its own stock exchange, giving an idea of the wealth behind the grandeur of many of the buildings. The Miner’s Cottage, Venus Battery and historical museums take people back to what it was like in those early days.

HOW TO GET THERE
The Park is located at the Eastern end of Charters Towers just 800m from the junction of the A6 (Flinders Highway) and Route 63 (Gregory Highway); it is on the Southern side of the road and is well signed.

Please check in at Reception Office at front gate, plenty of parking for all size vehicles.

FEES & BOOKINGS
Fee is from $32/night per couple for unpowered sites; $41/night per couple for powered sites.
$130/night per couple for Studio Cabin; $145/night per couple for Studio Villa and Deluxe Chalet; $155/night per couple for Family Chalet.

The park offers fun filled activities for all ages from jumping pillow to the new 21m Resort Pool complete with waterfall and wonderful shaded gardens.
Scheduled live entertainment is provided and program of activities can be checked at the reception.
