Situated in the large Central Queensland town of Blackall on the Barcoo River, the hotel is not only a great stopover for travellers on the Matilda Highway (Landsborough Hwy) wanting a cool refreshing ale and a good meal, but also worth a longer stay in their caravan park at the rear of the pub. The sites are large and powered and suit all types of rigs and of course all the pub’s facilities and restaurant are at your doorstep, so you don’t have to drive home or back to a park. The pub serves good value country size portions of all their quality meals. There is also clean and modern accommodation upstairs at the pub if you need it.

Being pretty much in the middle of town, all the amenities are within a short walk or drive, including supermarkets, medical, post office – even a Mitre 10. The long history of the town and the area is also on display, with heritage buildings, including the information centre itself, well worth a visit.

Blackall lays claim to having the authentic ‘Black Stump’ on display, and the old Woolscour group of buildings just out of town, with all the old wool cleaning machinery, will fascinate those history enthusiasts. Idalia National Park, with its natural beauty, majestic red river gums and spring fed water holes has some lovely easy walks to view the native flora and fauna. Then you can relax at the end of the day with an Artesian Water bubble spa at the Blackall aquatic centre.
