Australian Adventure Park is a campground and adventure activities centre rolled into one with plenty to keep the whole family occupied. Sitting on 108 acres beside the Burrum River, the park is located just 10 km south of Burrum Heads and 30 km west of Hervey Bay.

One of the park’s features is an 11 acre freshwater lake that has three islands that are used for camping, with an additional waterfront camping area on the lake’s edge. There are also places to camp away from the lake, including an area for over 55s and permanent travellers. Powered and unpowered sites are available in both lakeside and non-lakeside areas, with some powered sites having concrete slabs and taps. The campsites are large and there are sites suitable for all types of camping accommodation, from tents to large motorhomes. If you wish, you can have a campfire. Powered sites have a fire drum supplied, but otherwise you’ll need to have your own.

As well as sites for your own accommodation, there are some glamping tents available on one of the islands. These have power connected and are furnished with a bed, small table, light and stools. Linen is not provided though, so you’ll need to take it with you. Schools and other groups are also catered for with bunkhouse accommodation.

The single amenities block is located near the over 55s/travellers area, but there are also porta loos on the lake rim. If you’re self-contained it can save a bit of a walk, and there is a dump point in the park.

The adventure activities side of Australian Adventure Park includes a 10 metre-high tower from which you can abseil or ride the flying fox, an obstacle course, and a laser skirmish area. Adventure activities are open to day visitors as well as those staying in the park. For something a little calmer, there’s fishing, kayaking, swimming, cycling and archery. There are kayaks and bikes for hire, or campers are welcome to bring their own. Additional fees are payable for most activities.

There is an on-site shop for camping basics such as firewood and ice, but otherwise you need to have your own supplies. If you need to stock up on food, Burrum Heads and Howard only 10 min drive and are well serviced with supermarkets, butchers, bakeries, chemists, pubs, bottle shops and more.  .
